T O P I C R E V I E WRobert PearlmanWashington Post's D.C. Sports Blog: About that Capstronaut [via @jeff_foust] go out and buy an astronaut suit and you go to a hockey game, and you can't really be certain how it's gonna go," the Capstronaut told me on Thursday. "I thought security might take me down, but I think they've seen it all there. You know, you show up enough times dressed as an astronaut, everybody kind of gets comfortable with you...""Nobody has a clue what it means, which is awesome," the Capstronaut told me. Moonwalker1954Eh! I just saw him tonight as I was watching the Toronto-Washington game on TV. Didn't know he was that popular!GoesTo11As both a space enthusiast and a hockey fanatic (Let's Go Red Wings!), I found this pretty entertaining. I do hope, though, that for the sake of the fan(s) sitting behind him he takes off that helmet when the puck is in play. levasseurjThe Capstronaut actually does NOT remove his helmet during play, but he's become quite a part of the action between plays. He gets out of his seat to dance and clap like he's in "zero g". I was at that Toronto-Washington game on Friday and we caught him up in the owner's box at one point. He even got the owner to dance with him!I will say his visor is fairly see-through, so somebody must recognize him. The suit has an Apollo 11 patch I noticed, and my husband was impressed by the authentic-looking boots he wears. No doubt he'll be at the big Red Wings-Caps game tonight (I'll echo GoesTo11 with a 'Go Wings'), so keep an eye out for him if it's televised outside DC. He sits just off the aisle by the visitor's bench, about 3 or 4 rows back.Moonwalker1954Well...you won't see the Capstronaut for a while because the Washington Capitals have been eliminated in the first round of the Stanley cup play-offs by "my" Montréal Canadians last night. What a series that was!!! Go Habs! Go!dss65Blackhawks all the way!sfurtawGO WINGS!But I also like the fact that four of the Original Six are still in the playoffs. And I certainly would like to see the Habs beat the Penguins for many reasons.------------------Scott FurtawIn Memoriam: The Astronaut/Cosmonaut Memorial Web Sitewww.astronautmemorial.netMichigan's Own Military & Space Museum - Space Consultantwww.michigansmilitarymuseum.commusic_space quote:Originally posted by sfurtaw:"... So, would you say that manned "Caps"tronaut exploration has been pushed aside in favour of unmanned Canadian based RMS exploration? Doug MacKenzie on the Space Shuttle:The Canadians made like the space arm for the shuttle eh. Well, I’d like to know… like can you use it to open a beer? And can you use it to hold the beer and then like bring it up to your mouth? I’d think that like if it was designed in Canada eh, it’s GOTTA be able to open a beer. Which means, those guys that go up there, the astronauts, are like having a BEAUTY time up there with that arm! Moonwalker1954Eh! Eh!
